Tunisians seeking the right to the truth
14 January 2014
Tunisia is at a crossroads. The popular uprising three years ago brought the country to the limelight. The process of democratic transition began, but the challenges remain high. The people of Tunisia continue to live with the effects of civil unrest– and a legacy of grave human rights violations. A new law on transitional justice has just been adopted.
The United Nations Human Rights Office in Tunisia is working with the interim Government and various stakeholders including victims and civil society organizations, towards the establishment of a comprehensive transitional justice process that would promote the truth about the past, and provide reparations and justice for all.
