For 30 years, the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Contemporary Forms of Slavery has helped hundreds of thousands of victims to recover from slavery and rebuild their lives.

Since its establishment, the Fund has channelled more 8.8 million dollars to more than 800 projects.

Impact on the ground

The Fund channels voluntary contributions to civil society organizations, including grassroots and victims’ associations, assisting slavery survivors. Services include health care, shelter and food, legal representation, vocational training, education, and income-generating support. This operational approach complements the work of other United Nations mechanisms combating slavery.

30th anniversary activities

The Fund launched anniversary commemoration in September during global webinar, “Road to recovery: Improving the response to contemporary forms of slavery for vulnerable groups, including displaced persons.” This event was jointly convened with the UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery.

How to make a contribution

The UN Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery is grateful for all contributions.  Like all UN trust funds, the Slavery Fund depends entirely on earmarked contributions.  The Fund accepts donations from States, non-governmental organizations, business companies and other private entities, including individuals.
