Second session of the Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development

The second session of the Expert Mechanism took place virtually from 11 to 12 November 2020, 10:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00 CET.
At this session, the Expert Mechanism considered the following topics:
- Organizational matters
- The mandate and programme of work
- Coordination between the mechanisms dealing with the right to development
- Thematic studies
- Recommendations to the HRC
The meetings were held in English and without interpretation.
Delegates and other stakeholders wishing to participate in this meeting needed to register via this link. The registration remained open until 18:00 CET, Monday, 9th of November. A link to join the virtual meeting was subsequently sent to those who registered through the system. The link was unique to each registered participant and could not be shared. The link was sent few hours before the start of the meeting.
States, United Nations mechanisms, bodies and specialized agencies, funds and programmes, intergovernmental organizations, regional organizations and mechanisms in the field of human rights, national human rights institutions and other relevant national bodies, academics and experts on development issues, and non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council were allowed to ask for the floor (by pressing the “raise hand” button) and intervene, in that order.
States, NGOs and other stakeholders were kindly requested to coordinate among themselves so that only one person takes the floor per delegation.
