RIGHTS TO VISIT RWANDA, FINAL LEG
OF CENTRAL AFRICAN MISSION

Kigali / Geneva, 23 May 2007: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour, will visit Rwanda from 23-25 May, the final leg of a Central African tour aimed at re-affirming the importance of protecting and promoting human rights in national reconciliation and reconstruction efforts.
In Rwanda, the High Commissioner will meet with President Paul Kagame as well as other senior officials. She will also meet with representatives of human rights and other non-governmental organizations, members of the United Nations family and the diplomatic community.
The High Commissioner will wrap up in Rwanda a 12-day mission to Africa's Great Lakes Region that has also taken her to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi.
