UN disability rights committee to review Angola, Georgia, Tunisia, Peru, Argentina and Togo

GENEVA (6 March 2023) - The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) will review Angola, Georgia, Tunisia, Peru, Argentina and Togo in its latest session from today to 24 March.

The six countries are among the 186 States parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. They are required to undergo regular reviews by the Committee of 18 independent international experts on how they are implementing the Convention and the Committee's previous recommendations.

The CRPD, which has received respective country reports as well as other submissions from non-governmental organisations, will discuss a range of issues with the eight State delegations through public dialogues on the following dates at Geneva time.

Background

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities monitors States parties’ compliance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which to date has 186 States parties. The Committee is made up of 18 members who are independent human rights experts drawn from around the world, who serve in their personal capacity and not as representatives of States parties.
