2024 reports of the Special Rapporteur
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to development, Mr Surya Deva, in his vision report to the Human Rights Council (A/HRC/54/27) highlighted climate change as one of the major disruptors to realizing the right to development. He also underlined his priority to focus on the development aspirations of certain marginalized or vulnerable beneficiaries, including children, youth and future generations.
In 2024, he will present the following two thematic reports: (a) a report to the General Assembly on “Climate justice: Loss and damage”; and (b) a report to the Human Rights Council on “The right to development of children and future generations”. To inform these reports, the Special Rapporteur is inviting all non-state stakeholders for virtual consultations.
