OHCHR plays a significant role in developing and disseminating knowledge concerning human rights and issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC). OHCHR has produced a range of publications, tools and resources on topics related to the human rights of LGBTIQ+ people, which provide information and policy guidance to Governments, civil society activists, national human rights institutions and other stakeholders in order to promote greater respect, protection and fulfilment of the human rights of LGBTIQ+ people.
