Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is the body of independent experts which monitors implementation of the Convention by the States parties.
Worldwide, there are an estimated one billion people with disabilities. Through its engagement and cooperation with States parties, the Committee promotes inclusion, advocates for the human rights of all persons with disabilities, and provides recommendations to support the implementation of the provisions enshrined in the Convention.

The Guidelines on the right to liberty and security of persons with disabilities are contained in the Annex to A/72/55, the Committee's Bi-Annual Report 2016.
States parties reporting
All States parties are obliged to submit regular reports to the Committee on how the rights of persons with disabilities are being implemented.

During its 89th session and 26th session respectively, the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) adopted a Joint Statement on the Rights of Children with Disabilities.
Status of ratifications
To date, 185 of the 193 UN Member States have ratified the Convention for the Protection on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and 100 have ratified the Optional Protocol.
