About Us

The Fund is financed by means of voluntary contributions from Governments, non-governmental organizations and other private or public entities. In order to respond to increasing demands to operate and fulfil its mandate in a satisfactory manner, the Fund needs to be supported on a regular basis.

The Fund can allocate travel grants on the basis of the contributions paid and duly registered by the United Nations Treasurer, as well as any balance remaining from previous years, as established by the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Donors are invited to contribute annually to the Fund. Paragraph 38 of the Outcome Document of the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples invites “Member States and actively encourage the private sector, and other institutions to contribute to the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples (…) as a means of respecting and promoting the rights of indigenous peoples worldwide”.

For information on how to contribute to the Fund, please contact the secretariat of the Fund.

We wish to thank the following states for their generous support in 2023 .
