This section includes national action plans/strategies for human rights education elaborated by Member States since 1995, in the framework of the United Nations Decade for Human Rights Education (1995-2004) and of the World Programme for Human Rights Education (2005-ongoing). To support those efforts, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has developed specific tools, i.e. Guidelines for National Plans of Action for Human Rights Education and a Handbook on National Human Rights Plans of Action.

Part 1 below includes national action plans or strategies focussing only on human rights education. Part 2 consists of relevant excerpts of overall national action plans for human rights. The action plans or strategies focus on a specific sector (such as the school system) or on various audiences (professionals, vulnerable groups, the general public etc.).
